Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing Piano Solo (Sawatsky)

Description

If there is a hymn that is going to make it into the next Latter-day Saint hymnbook, it’s “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” After a long and extensive search for high quality arrangements of this hymn, let me introduce you to my favorite one: Lynette Sawatsky’s arrangement of  “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” for piano solo. This arrangement is written at a late intermediate or early advanced level. And although it is written in the key of Db—don’t let that scare you! It’s not difficult once you’re comfortable with the key. It highlights the worshipful nature of the hymn tune without drawing attention to itself. There are no strange harmonies or driving rhythms. It’s value is found in its simplicity.

The arrangement comes in a collection of six hymns for about $11, depending on the exchange rate (the price is $13.99 CAD). All of the arrangements in the collection (titled Anchored) are nicely done, however the other five songs are not ones that most Latter-day Saints are familiar with. “Be Thou My Vision” is known to many of us as “Take Time to Be Holy.” “This is My Father’s World” is another one you might know.
